The LAX Gateway Enhancements included design-build of 26 internally lit “Landmark” glass and steel structures, ranging in height from 25 feet to 110 feet tall. Woodbridge Glass, Inc. was responsible for the design of the foundations, steel structures, and point support connections of glass, as well as glazing of these iconic structures. Given that the enhancements were in conjunction with the 2000 Democratic National Convention, an extremely aggressive schedule was put in place and successfully accomplished.
All work was completed between the hours of 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. as to not disturb airport traffic. Special permits were required to transport 150 foot long pylon structures.
